Simple Tips To Naturally Slow Aging

Aging is the natural process our bodies go through, as we get older. However, there are some complex biological functions that accelerate aging such as glycation and over-oxidation of cells.

This acceleration in the aging process is caused by excessive sugar, stress, and toxicity.

However, as you may have noticed, there are some people who are 40 but look 60 and others who are 60 but look 20 years younger.

Here shared with you how to naturally slow aging by following an anti-aging diet, improving your lifestyle and taking anti-aging supplements.

Top Foods for Anti Aging Diet
Want to age slower?  Then there are certain nutrients you must be getting in your diet on a daily basis including antioxidants, healthy fats, minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients.

  • Anti-oxidant Rich Teas – Green tea, white tea, oolong tea, rooibos tea, and black tea contain antioxidants called polyphenols that protect your cells from free radical damage.
  • Wild-caught fish – Provide anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats to slow the aging process.  Wild Alaskan Salmon contains unrivaled levels of Vitamin D and astaxanthin.  Both vitamin and astaxanthin are powerful antioxidants that help fight the signs of aging.
  • Green leafy vegetables – Kale, swiss chard, beet greens and spinach provide important nutrients to support bone health, eye health, and even prevent cancer.  Spirulina (a sea vegetable) provides high levels of anti-oxidants including polythenols.  This super anti-oxidant is a powerhouse weapon against pre-mature aging.
  • Berries – Are full of powerful antioxidants known as anthocyanins which help maintain muscle and may prevent cancer.
  • Herbs – Turmeric and garlic contain anti-oxidants and cleansing nutrients that can slow the aging process.

Foods that Cause Faster Aging

  • Refined sugar  – Promotes a process called glycation.  Glycation damages cells and causes wrinkles.  It’s the top food that speeds aging in most people.
  • Grains – Pro-inflammatory if not sprouted and lead to glycation, which will speed up the aging process.
  • Trans fats and hydrogenated oils – These processed fats promote inflammation which may lead to premature aging, heart disease, and certain types of cancer.
  • Alcohol – Although an occasional glass of red wine may be beneficial for health as it has an important anti-oxidant known as resveratrol, the overall consumption of alcohol is pro-inflammatory and speeds up the aging process.
  • Artificial sugar or other artificial ingredients – These contain a large number of chemicals which can speed up the aging process.

Top 5 Anti-Aging Supplements
#1 Omega-3 fats (Fish Oil 1000 mg daily)

The omega-3 fats EPA and DHA in fish oil are powerful anti-inflammatory agents and may reduce age-related cellular damage.

#2 Green superfood powder (1 scoop daily)

Contains foods high in antioxidant compounds like chlorella, grass juices, wild berries, and herbs that slow aging.

#3 Resveratrol (250-500 mg daily)

Found in the skin of red grapes resveratrol has been shown to reduce cellular damage and slow aging.

#4 Adaptogen Herbs Ashwagandha, Rhodiola, Holy Basil, Ginseng (500-1000 mg daily)

These herbs lower cortisol levels and reduce the damaging effects stress can have on the body.

#5 Co-enzyme Q10 (150 mg 2x daily)

Acts as a powerful antioxidant by supporting heart function and is also required for the energy production of cells critical for preventing premature aging.

Lifestyle recommendations
Sleep – A good night’s sleep is one of the best things you can do to prevent aging and is one of the most overlooked health habits. Aim to get at least 8 hours of sleep daily in a dark, cool room.

Exercise – Staying active keeps you young by lubricating your joints, supporting detoxification, improving lean muscle mass, and building your cardiovascular health.

Discover the 6 Best Anti Aging Treatments

Aging is the impact of time on our bodies that leads to cell, tissue and organ damage. Toxins, UV radiation from sunlight, harmful foods, pollution and other toxins all take their toll on our bodies. We all want to look and feel younger, fresh and healthy, and although we cannot turn the clock back, we can try and slow the aging process by following few simple anti aging treatments.

Below are 6 good anti aging treatments that are natural and don’t involve going under the knife or other invasive medical procedures:

1. Sesame Oil

Beyond its culinary applications, sesame oil is also used in anti aging treatments to deliver health benefits to the skin. According to many studies, sesame oil is a powerful antioxidant due to a naturally occurring compound called sesamol. Antioxidants are important to skin health because they reduce free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can prematurely age the body and contribute to diseases. When our skin ages prematurely, it loses collagen and elastin, the substances that make skin strong, soft, firm and elastic. Other studies suggest that sesame oil may be effective in protecting against the sun’s harmful UV rays and skin cancer. It is therefore a good advise to message sesame oil all over your body first thing every morning. Sesame oil is gentle, affordable and pleasant-smelling, and as such it is a popular base for massage oils. The oil protects and moisturizes the skin due to its high absorption rate and high content of vitamin E, a vitamin commonly recommended for the treatment of a wide range of skin conditions. You can read more why it’s good for you to apply oil on your skin in my article how to rejuvenate your skin using oil cleansing.

2. Fish Oil

According to studies, taking enough of fish oil supplements appears to have enormous health benefits including dramatic anti aging effects. Fish oil has anti inflammatory benefits, improves heart and immune functions and helps hair grow and skin look healthy. Specifically, taking these supplements regularly may lower the risk for a host of diseases associated with aging, including coronary heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, arthritis and even Alzheimer’s disease. Read here more about the amazing health benefits of omega 3 fish oil.

3. Limit white sugar consumption

Limiting consumption of processed sugar as well as other low-quality carb foods such as white bread, sugar, pastries, cookies and candy, which also break down to sugar in your body, will help you to slow aging process (and you can read my previous article 6 things that happen to your body when you quit sugar).

The reason is that when sugar breaks in the body it involves major molecular mechanisms that damage your body, and that leads to disease and aging. Limiting sugar in your diet is a well-known key to longevity. Fructose in particular is an extremely pro-inflammatory agent that speeds up the aging process. It also promotes the dangerous growth of fat cells around your vital organs and can cause to diabetes and heart disease. Sugar/fructose also increases your insulin and leptin levels and this is another major factor of premature aging and age-related chronic degenerative diseases such as heart disease. Limiting sugar consumption in your diet is therefore a good anti aging strategy. If you have sugar cravings, you may be interested to read my article about 13 effective ways to eliminate sugar cravings. You can read more about the harmful effects of sugar in my articles: Research Reveals How Sugar Causes Cancer and Find Out Why Sugar Is Poison According to a Physician Author.

4.  Antioxidants

Antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, help fight free radicals that break down collagen and thus slowing aging process. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in October 2007 found that people who ate foods rich in vitamin C had fewer wrinkles and less age-related dry skin than those whose diets contained only small amounts of the vitamin. Vitamin C also helps form collagen, which smooths fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C also seems to protect against UV sun rays, which can lead to freckles and a mottled complexion and does some repair and firming of the skin. Berries are packed with vitamin C as well as other nutrients, and are known to delay the aging process and to fight free radicals that damage our body. To learn more about the amazing healing properties of berries, have a look at my e-book The Healing Berry Guide. This e-book will teach you how to transform your health with berries.

Experts continue to argue whether antioxidants can prevent heart disease, but some of the evidence is highly persuasive. It is therefore a good idea to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, which are full of vitamin C as well as other healthy nutrients. You can also read my article about the best ways to combine antioxidants in your daily diet. You can also find more information about healthy eating and nutrition in my e-book Effortless Healthy Eating which is part of the Natural Health Revolution Program. This program will help you to achieve your health, nutrition and weight loss goals.

5. Treat your eye area and your hands

Many people begin noticing signs of aging on their hands and around their eyes. It is advisable to treat the skin around the eyes separately as face creams can be too irritating and heavy, but products made for this delicate area work wonders for smoothing fine lines. You can also try this great homemade recipe for soothing tired eyes or these home remedies for puffy eyes.
It’s also a good idea to start taking care of your hands with the same routine that you use to take care of your face. Every time you exfoliate or use a mask on your face, try to exfoliate or apply that same mask to your hands too. You can find here fantastic scrubs that you can easily make at home. They are suitable for the face and body as well.

6. Water

The effect of water on the skin is controversial. Some sources claim that one of the benefits of drinking water is softer, moister skin. I’ve also seen several references that claim that water will not prevent wrinkles as wrinkles and aging are mainly caused by sun, age and genetics. Other sources claim that it is true that the outermost layer of your skin may feel rough if it doesn’t contain enough water, however there’s no scientific proof that drinking extra water can make dry skin supple. But there is no denial that the aging process doesn’t only reflect in our skin. It also reflects in our body and the way it is functioning. Every organ and system in your body needs water to regulate body temperature, flush out toxins, aid in digestion and carry nutrients to our cells. The cells of our skin also depend on water to better function and repair damage.

The Ultimate Anti Wrinkle, Anti Aging Treatment using Essential Oil Blend

Before you spend a fortune on expensive anti aging treatment, consider trying a few of these essential oils as a home remedy for wrinkles. Essential oils are full of nutrients and proteins which maintain the mattress-like bounciness of collagen, thus they can be used as anti wrinkle treatment.

Essential oils also stimulate blood flow which encourages the regeneration of new skin cells and some essential oils, such as fennel, have hormonal-like properties which encourages the firming of skin.

Below is one of my favorite anti-wrinkle blends which seems to have worked wonders for anyone I’ve shared it with. This may be a good alternative for an anti aging treatment.

This recipe has been taken from The Complete Book Of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood. It is my favorite book on the topic of essential oils in the world with over 600 recipes for absolutely everything. Get yourself a copy if you’d like to learn more about ways you can use essential oils. The Ultimate Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Essential Oil Blend:

  •     Neroli oil – 10 drops
  •     Lavender oil – 10 drops
  •     Frankincense oil – 10 drops
  •     Rosemary oil – 2 drops
  •     Fennel oil – 10 drops
  •     Lemon oil – 3 drops
  •     Carrot oil – 10 drops
  •     Evening primrose oil – 10 drops

Directions – Dilute in two tablespoons of sweet almond oil and massage onto your face and neck every night.

When you look at all of these ingredients you may think this recipe is very expensive, but it’s not. Once you have all the bottles of essential oil you can make it up in minutes and create a huge number of batches from your one bottle.

You can get approximately 20-25 drops per 1ml of essential oil so from a regular 10ml bottle you get between 200-250 drops of oil – enough to make at least 20 batches of this anti-aging blend. Try it as an alternative to an expansive anti aging treatment.

You can find all of these essential oils on Amazon. If you’d really like to give your essential oil collection a boost then try this Essential Oil Collection. It contains all the oils you need for this recipe (apart from neroli oil) and a whole host more that you can use for yourself or gift to friends.
