There are castor oil packs which can be bought, but making them at home will save you some money. In order to make these packs you need there layers of pure cotton which is large enough to cover the area which is affected, plastic wrap, castor oil, sealed container, an old towel and a bottle of hot water. Make sure to put on some old clothes and use old sheets since the oil is probably going to drip when you lie down.

Fold the cotton. It needs to have four layers. The castor oil should soak through the first three layers. It should not be dripping. Next, put the cotton directly on your affected area. Use plastic wrap to cover the cotton. Use the bottle with hot water so as to open the pores. In this way, the oil can dissolve in your skin.

When you remove the pack, use a dilute solution of water and baking soda. Use one teaspoon of baking soda for 4 gills of water. These packs can be used for up to 30 times every day. The pack needs to be stored somewhere dry and cool so as not to become rancid.

Be careful when you purchase the castor oil. Some oils are extracted from castor seeds which have been chemically processes, deodorized, extracted from hexane or sprayed with pesticides.
