Things Why We Should Never Ignore Thirst !

The only things that our body needs more than water is oxygen. We will tell you how to properly hydrate and rehydrate so your body always gets what is needed.

For proper hydration of the body, you need to maintain a regular intake of fluids, about a glass of water no more often than every 15 minutes to half an hour.

Rehydration is an ongoing process and we need to give our bodies time to accept and use the liquid.

Respiration, metabolism, digestion, transport of nutrients to our cells, removing waste products, optimal pressure and temperature control are some of the bodily functions that can be achieved only in the presence of water.

Only oxygen is indispensable for the maintenance of the water for the life of all organisms.

If you find that a longer period you havent consumed water, or that you have dry mouth, and your movements are slow and you feel a sudden drop in concentration and fatigue, it’s time to rehydrate because your body shows first signs of mild dehydration and you should fix this because you should avoid intense thirst.

The need for fluid intake (thirst) is not as strong as the urge to eat (hunger), but it is much more important.

Whenever the body becomes overheated, 2 million sweat glands begin to secrete sweat which makes up about 99 percent water. Te sweat goes to the surface and thus cools the body.

Not everyone has the same ability to sweat, so someone in certain circumstances, loses 1 liter while someone else loses 1.5 liters. Lost sweat must be fully compensated with fluid intake.

Excellent source of fluid for rehydration are:

  • Water
  • Juices (fruit, vegetable, mix)
  • Unsweetened teas
  • Milk and fermented beverages
  • Fruits and vegetables (especially with high water content, strawberries, raspberries, citrus, melon, watermelon, tomatoes, zucchini, lettuce)
  • Soups (spoon meal) … not too hot (preferably clear soups and stews with vegetables)

Do not be fooled by the feeling that you have when you drink soda because sodas only relieve thirst at the moment, the real truth is that CO2 from these drinks inflates the stomach and creates a feeling of fullness, which leads to low fluid intake in a day. (we wrote about how much unhealthy sodas are and how do they dehydrate your body here!)

Coffee and alcoholic drinks have a diuretic effect, so the recommendation is to avoid them in periods of high temperatures and increased density or reduce them to the minimum.

Water circulation in the body must be in proper balance, which is difficult in extreme climatic conditions, ie do not forget your body and its needs and avoid the consequences brought by dehydration and enjoy the summer.
