10 Early Warning Signs Of Ovarian Cancer You Shouldn’t Ignore

Ovarian cancer is the second most common gynecological cancer in women with the highest mortality rate, mostly because it is discovered at a late stage.

Europe, especially the regions in Eastern and Northern Europe have the highest rate of women suffering from ovarian cancer. In 2012 there were 65 000 patients, so the disease became the sixth most common cancer in women in Europe. About 250,000 women develop cancer every year.

Only 50% of the women diagnosed with ovarian cancer survive five years after the initial diagnosis. This is because the cancer is in advanced stage. With early detection, however, this percent can increase up to 95%.

Women can develop ovarian cancer at any age, but it is more likely to occur in women who are 50 or older. More than half of the cases are women at the age of 65 and older. Industrialized countries have the highest incidence of ovarian cancer. Women with white skin are at a slightly higher risk; African-American and Asian women are at lower risk.

The risk of developing the disease increases with the age. Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer in American women and the second most common gynecological cancer. That is 4% of all cases of cancer in women. However, the death rate for ovarian cancer is higher than for any other cancer in women, because it is not early detected.

Symptoms and Signs
Usually there are no early signs of the disease. Ovarian cancer is often referred to as a silent killer, because women are either not aware of having it, or they have symptoms that are not accurately diagnosed until the disease is in an advanced stage.

The following symptoms are considered as warning signs of ovarian cancer, but there may be many other causes.

  • Digestive symptoms such as gases, indigestion, constipation or a feeling of fullness after a light meal, bloating, cramps, and abdominal discomfort.
  • Pelvic pressure or frequent urination
  • Unexplained changes in the bowel
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Abdominal pain or swelling
  • Loss of appetite (anorexia)
  • Fatigue
  • Unexplained weight loss or weight gain
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Vaginal bleeding in post-menopausal women

Causes
The real causes of ovarian cancer remain unknown, but several factors are known to increase the chances of developing the disease. These groups of women are more likely to develop ovarian cancer:

  • Women who have never been pregnant or had children
  • White women, especially in Northern Europe
  • Women over 50. Half of the diagnosed cases are women over 65.
  • Women who have a family history of breast, ovarian, endometrial (uterus), prostate or colon cancer
  • Women who had breast cancer
  • Women who have a first-degree relative (mother, daughter, sister) diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
  • Women with genetic mutation in BRCA1 or BRCA2. (Not all women with these genetic mutations of breast cancer will develop ovarian cancer)

Diagnosis
So far there are no tests that can reliably show if a woman has an early-stage ovarian cancer. Some diagnostic procedures include a thorough bimanual pelvic examination, diagnosticlaparoscopy, and variousx-rayprocedures.

An ultrasound can be made through the abdomen and the lower pelvic region or with a transvaginal probe. Low GI series or barium enema involve series of X-rays to highlight the other organs. CA-125 blood test is used to determine the level of CA-125, a tumor marker.

High awareness among women and their gynecologists is more than necessary. They must be aware that regular checkups, especially in cases of bloating can detect and diagnose cancer at an early stage when it can be actually cured.

Women who are at high risk due to a family history, should do regular checkups. Although there is no strong evidence, when it comes to treating menopausal symptoms, women are advised to use the lowest dose of hormone replacement therapy in the shortest period possible.

Treating
There are various treatments. According to the specialists, women diagnosed with ovarian cancer are usually advised to do a surgery, which involves removal of the uterus, tubes, ovaries and omentum. If the cancer has metastasized, the surgery may include removing of other tissues in the abdomen and pelvis, as well as parts of the colon.

Specialists explain that chemotherapy is usually given after surgery to stop the recurrence of cancer, but it is also given to reduce the cancer before surgery, especially in advanced cases. It is also used if the disease has reoccurred.

Most regimes are based on platinum agents, and there are many target-therapies. In many countries specialists practice antibodies that hinderthe blood flow to the cancer. Chemotherapy can be inserted directly into the abdomen. Many studies have confirmed the positive effect of this hyperthermic peritoneal chemotherapy during surgery.

Radiotherapy is rarely used for ovarian cancer, but it can be applied in the late stage of the disease in order to reduce pain and bleeding.

Ginger Root Kills Ovarian & Prostate Cancer Cells Better Than Chemo

Three centuries of medicinal use and researches conducted by the University of Michigan have led to the possibility of killing ovarian and prostate cancer cells naturally. And all thanks to the use of ginger.

This root is truly among the greatest medicines worldwide. Ginger has been used for treating nausea and inflammation. The  obtained results from the American Association for Cancer Research have shown that each time the ginger powder was used to treat cancer cells all of the cancer cells died because they were being exposed to the compound.

This occurrence in medical  terms is known as  apoptosis (cancer cell suicide). After the ginger is presented to the cancer cells, they often attack each other. This is called autophagy.

Ginger is considered to be very effective natural remedy for people who are undergoing chemotherapy. Ginger can be also used in bigger amounts to treat cancer of its own accord.

Another study has shown ginger’s effectiveness in fighting ovarian cancer concluded with:

“Ginger modulates and inhibits growth in secretion of angiogenic factors cells infected with ovarian cancer. The usage of dietary agents, such as ginger, might have potential in treating and preventing ovarian cancer. ”

Ginger’s abilities in treating prostate cancer have also been proved. A British magazine published results of ginger based study, conducted in America, in which ginger’s extract (zingiber officinale) saved a patient by killing all prostate cancer cells while the healthy ones were left alone. This ginger extract can shrink prostate tumor’s size by even 56%.

Let us add something else to ginger’s list of health benefits.

This spice contains  no toxicity even when is consumed in larger amounts. Another benefit is that it doesn’t cause any negative side effects in  people  who are undergoing uncomfortable chemo and radiation treatments.

The American Cancer Society claims that more than 15% of men are going to be diagnosed with prostate cancer by the end of the next year. And when it comes to women, there will be more than 20,000 who will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer during the same period of time. Many of these future potential patients can be saved with the use of  ginger root.

While Big Pharma will have these women and men go through very invasive treatments, some ginger root powder can act very helpful in causing the cancer cells to commit a certain death.

Scientists have confirmed at ginger can provide miraculous effects in the treatment of cancer.

The Journal of Toxicology and Food Chemistry explained that it contains 2 powerful ingredients, gingerols, and paradoles, which efficiently prevent early cancer. This root has been found to be especially useful in the case of ovarian, colon, and prostate cancer.

Ovarian Cancer

The onset of cancer is known as angiogenesis is the onset of cancer and it actually predicts the development of this disease. Therefore, if one successfully recognizes it on time, the cancer growth can be inhibited.

According to a publication study by the BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, ginger is an extremely potent healing food and it has strong anti-angiogenic nature.

The experiments conducted at the University of Michigan for the American Association for Cancer Research showed that it successfully destroys cancer cells and is even more effective than chemo as cancer in the ovaries cannot develop resistance.

The treatment with ginger does not lead to any side-effects like other conventional cancer treatments.

Ginger Against Colorectal Cancer

Scientists who attended the conference named Cancer Prevention Research in 2003, showed that this beneficial root can treat and fight cancer. According to a study published in the Journal of Nutrition in 2015, this root efficiently prevents and kills colon cancer and colon cancer cells.

Ginger For Prostate Cancer

A study published in the British Journal of Nutrition showed that the ginger extract effectively inhibits prostate cancer. They advise the intake of 100 mg ginger per kilogram weight of the body.

Scientists have shown that ginger reduces the growth of the tumor by 56%, and does not affect the healthy cells at the same time, unlike chemotherapy.

This root has also shown positive effects in ‘in vivo’ and ‘in vitro’ tests. Despite its amazing effects in the treatment of cancer, this root does not damage healthy cells, it is safe, natural, healthy, and does not cause any side-effects.

Therefore, we strongly advise you to incorporate ginger into your daily diet, add it to meals, juices, desserts, smoothies, and enjoy its countless effects!

5 Eating Tips Which Will Help You Reduce the Risk of Ovarian Cancer!

It is very difficult to diagnose ovarian cancer in early stages, since there are few or no symptoms at all at the beginning. This type of cancer is the most lethal of all gynecologic cancers, since by the time it is discovered it reaches advanced stages. The most powerful weapons against cancer are prevention and early detection. Regular cancer screenings are necessary for an early detection. However, you can take a number of preventive measures to reduce the risk of developing this cancer type. Starting from the diet is the most effective and easiest method.

Avoid Processed and Red Meat
We do not suggest eliminating these types of meat from your diet completely, just cutting back on the amount you consume. A number of studies have shown that diet which is high in meat can notably increase the risk of ovarian cancer. According to a study which was published in the American Journal of Clinical nutrition women who consume meat in large quantities have twice as bigger risk of developing ovarian cancer than those who do not consume meat or fat.

Drink Tea
Drinking a cup of hot tea is just comforting, and knowing that it can save your life makes tea even better. According to a research there are certain compounds in the tea which notably improve health in general, and extremely reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. These compounds are called flavonoids and they fight cancer, reduce inflammation and strengthen the immune system.

According to this study, 2 cups of black tea on a daily basis can lower the risk of ovarian cancer by 31%. Moreover this tea is also a potent preventive tool. It contains polyphenols, like epigallocatechin-3-gallate, which can prevent certain cancers, ovarian cancer included.

Consume Leafy Green Vegetables
These vegetables are low in calories, but rich in fiber. They are perfect for preventing ovarian cancer. Greens which are rich in nutrients protect against several cancer types, and also prevent cardiovascular diseases. Cruciferous vegetables are abundant in minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants, all of which prevent cancer and improve health in general.

Vegetables, like broccoli and cabbage contain sulforaphane, which is a compound known for its anti-carcinogenic properties. Furthermore, spinach is abundant in vitamins A, D, E and K, and a number of minerals. Moreover, it contains apigenin, which is a cancer-fighting substance. Brussels sprouts, arugula and kale also have anti-carcinogenic properties.

Consume More Citrus Fruits
Fruits like grapefruits, lemons and oranges are part of the citrus group. These fruits are rich in flavonoids, which have potent anti-carcinogenic properties. These particular flavonoids can impede the growth and activity of cancer cells. According to research, drinking one glass of orange juice a day can reduce the risk of ovarian cancer.

Stay Away From Sugar
Cancer feeds on sugar. Sugar stimulates the growth of cancer cells, and provided the tumor with energy. Cancer cells consume sugar 10 times faster than normal cells. Moreover, sugar reduces some immune functions, i.e. phagocytosis, which is a crucial immune response that makes it possible for the cells to ingest or to get rid of foreign or harmful substances. Furthermore, sugar creates the perfect acidic environment for cancer, thus allowing it to thrive. To add, sugar contributes to obesity, which is a known risk factor for cancer.
