Improve Memory and Cognitive Function Drinking This Tea

It seems that peppermint tea provides more than simple refreshment after a long day at work. A study published not while ago has shown that peppermint tea has an ability to enhance long-term and short-term working memory. This scientific research which was revealed at the Annual Conference of the British Psychological Society in England ten days ago has extended the list of reasons why people should consume peppermint tea.

Namely, the scientists from the Northumbria University have examined the impact of specific herbs and aromas on memory and mood. They have given a series of questions to about 180 participants. These questions were associated with the participants’ mood and once they were answered the participants were given a hot beverage – chamomile or peppermint tea or just hot water.

About 20 minutes after they had their beverage, the individuals had to finish tests focused on evaluation of their memory and other important cognitive functions. In the end, they had to finish another similar mood test like in the beginning.

The final results have revealed that there is a connection between peppermint tea and cognition and mood improvement.

In addition, the individuals that had peppermint tea witnessed boosted long-term memory, preparedness, alertness and working memory.

What is interesting is that the participants who had chamomile tea witnessed calming and relaxing effects, but their memory and alertness were worsened.

The study involved a second set of tests. For this test, the team checked whether herbal smell can affect the cognitive performance of older persons. In this case they asked about 150 healthy individuals at the age of 65 or older to sit and relax in a room fragranced with lavender essential oil or rosemary essential oil. Health.

Another group of participants was sitting in a room that was not fragranced. Once the test was over, participants had to complete memory tests and mood evaluation.

The results were very interesting because it was proven that the herbs had impact on the memory and mood of all participants. Individuals who were sitting in the room with rosemary scent had improved memory and had about 15% better results compared to the individuals who were sitting in the room that was not scented.

So, each herb has been linked to different effects on cognitive and mood capabilities for hundreds of years and this was the first time that these properties were tested through scientific study. Besides boosting alertness and memory, peppermint was also linked to reduction of nausea, headache, colds, indigestion, stomach aches and diarrhea.

According to the author of this study, Dr, Mark Moss, even though these positive effects of peppermint are not scientifically proven, there is no doubt that peppermint has the ability to boost cognitive performance. Health.

Dr. Moss says that it is quite amazing how each herb has different effects on our memory and mood. This means that different herbs can be used in different situations. Even if you belong to the older generation, you can always rely on peppermint if you want to improve your memory.

This Powerful Tea Is The Best Remedy For Swollen Legs

If you have ever experienced swelling in your legs (or your hands or feet for that matter) you know how painful it can become.

There are many reasons this swelling, known as edema, or the retention of fluids in the body, can occur:

  • A sedentary lifestyle—sitting or staying in one position for too long
  • Eating too much processed foods and foods high in salt
  • Poor circulation
  • PMS
  • Side effects of some medications
  • Pregnancy

Often, a bit of swelling in your legs can be normal after standing or sitting for the day or during pregnancy for example, but chronic leg and ankle swelling—peripheral edema—can also signal a more serious underlying issue such as kidney disease, heart failure or liver disease, so it is always best to consult a physician if this swelling persists.

For cases of occasional swelling however, there are herbal remedies that can be helpful for reducing the swelling and helping your body eliminate any excess fluids. One such herb is parsley.

It Used To Be Recommended by Hippocrates
The word parsley is actually derived from two Greek words: “petrose,” meaning rock, as it often pops through rocky terrain and stone walls; and “selenium,” the ancient name for celery. When put together, it literally means “rock celery.”

There are essentially two types of parsley—curly parsley and Italian parsley (flat leaves) which tends to be the hardier of the two.

While parsley is used as a garnish in almost every restaurant and home in North America, more often than not, we tend to pick it off the dish and leave it to the side.

But studies show that eating that parsley garnish can help protect you from a variety of diseases and ailments including, digestive disorders, urinary tract problems, menstrual pain, asthma, allergies, as well as help to lower blood pressure, improve your bone health, your breath and even help in cases of bronchitis.

In ancient times, Hippocrates recommended parsley as a general tonic for kidney stones and rheumatism as well as an antidote for poison. And according to “The Green Pharmacy Herbal Handbook,” parsley is a wonderful diuretic that helps the kidneys remove excess fluids from the body (edema).

Parsley Is a Natural Diuretic
A study published in 2002 in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, showed that “parsley acts as a diuretic by inhibiting the sodium and potassium ion pumps, influencing the process of osmosis and increasing the flow of urine.”

Parsley is also rich in potassium and because most chemically produced diuretics actually lower potassium levels in the body, parsley also assures you do not experience this common side effect of these pharmaceutical drugs.

Another 2009 Brazilian study titled, “Diuretic and hipotensive activity of aqueous extract of parsley seeds” showed similar results for parsley and suggests that parsley can not only increase urinary flow, but also decrease blood pressure as well.

Parsley Tea Recipe for Edema
According to Dr. John R. Christopher, renowned author and America’s foremost herbalist, you should drink at least two quarts (64 oz.) of strong parsley tea per day to achieve maximum results.

You can increase the amount of parsley tea to a cup every hour if you feel the need. When making your tea, however, he also suggests that you use the “fresh light-green leaves,” along with the roots and seeds, if available.

Instructions:

  1. Chop the leaves and roots into small pieces (you can also pre-chop the parsley and store them in an airtight glass container in the fridge for up to a week.)
  2. Place approximately ¼ cup of parsley into an infusion basket.
  3. Pour over a cup of boiled water or submerge into a tea pot.
  4. Let the mixture steep for 5 to 7 minutes.
  5. Remove the basket or strain the tea.
  6. Add honey, lemon or ginger for flavor if desired.
  7. Always drink parsley tea warm for the best effects.
As well as drinking tea, don’t forget to use other techniques to reduce swelling such as raising your legs by putting your legs on pillows to raise them above your heart when lying down.

Also exercise your legs as this helps pump fluid from your legs back to your heart.

Drink This 3-Ingredient Tea to Cleanse Your Lungs of Phlegm, Toxins and Inflammation

Respiratory issues are extremely common and sometimes they can be quite intense. Regardless of whether it is a common cold, allergic reaction, runny nose, or asthma, we have all experienced the unpleasant feeling of having a respiratory issue.

To relieve the unpleasant symptoms which are typical for respiratory issues, most people take pharmaceutical medications. However, these medications are often accompanied with side effects which can even make you prone to more sickness. The good news is that there a way to solve respiratory issues without the need to take these medications. We are talking about a lung cleansing tea which uses natural ingredients which don’t cause any side effects.

Why You Should Avoid Respiratory Medication

Cough syrup is often recommended for the common cold and similar respiratory issues. However, even though it provides almost instant relief of cold symptoms, it can cause side effects if not taken in moderation. Among them are:

  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling
  • Trouble breathing

When it comes to asthma or bronchitis, patients are often prescribed corticosteroids, a medication which is taken through an inhaler. Unfortunately, it has been scientifically shown that they can weaken the immune system and increase the chance of developing a fungal infection. Therefore, it is important to look for an alternative which doesn’t cause harmful side effects.

Health Benefits of Mullein

Mullein is a weed which can be found all across the world. It has been long used for its medicinal properties and it is said to be the cure for many respiratory issues, including respiratory constriction, lung weakness, and chest colds.

This weed contains saponins, organic compounds which act as natural expectorants. Therefore, they help the body remove excess mucus from the lungs and thus relieve congestion and other symptoms. Not only they relieve these issues, but if the respiratory disease is viral or bacterial then it also helps you get better over a shorter period of time. This is so because bacteria causing the illness remain trapped in the mucus and leave the body along with it.

In addition, mullein has emollient properties, which means that it can help soothe the throat and reduce pain caused by coughing. Therefore, it is an amazing remedy for all symptoms of respiratory conditions, including chronic ones like bronchitis and asthma.

Herbal Tea for Lung Health

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½  cups of water
  • 2 teaspoons of mullein leaves
  • 1 teaspoon of dried spearmint (optional)
  • 1-2 teaspoons of honey (optional)

Instructions:
